1. FAQ for User Name And Password

Do we have to register to use Citibank Online?
Yes. This enables you to specify a User Name and Password to use for Sign On. Please note all users will need to register for Citibank Online in order to obtain a User Name and Password. From then on, customers will enter the User Name and Password to Sign On instead of CitiCard / Credit Card Number and ATM Personal Identification Number.

How can I register to use Citibank Online for the first time?
You can register to use Citibank Online right now, by using your CitiCard / Credit Card Number and ATM Personal Identification Number. Click Citibank Online Login button on our Web Site Homepage.


Why do I have to select a user name and password?
Selecting a User Name and Password is entirely an additional convenience and customization enhancement for Citibank Online customer logon. In addition, your User Name is selected and known only to you, unlike your CitiCard / Credit Card Number, which can be seen each time you perform a transaction (such as a purchase or an ATM transaction).

Will I still need to use my Citibank card number and ATM Personal Identification Number to sign on?
No. You'll not need to use your CitiCard / Credit Card Number and ATM PIN as long as you try to access Citibank Online with correct User Name and Password.
However, you will be asked to validate yourself whenever you forget your User Name or Password.

What is the difference between the ATM Personal Identification Number and the password that will be used along with the user name?
The ATM Personal Identification Number that you had been using to logon to Citibank Online can also used to access ATMs. However, the new password that you'll be creating along with the User Name will only be used to access Internet banking services. ATM Personal Identification Numbers will continue to be used for ATM access.

What happens if I forget my user name and password?
You can request for a reminder of your User Name through the initial sign on screen by clicking on the Forgot User Name link. After this, you can then reset your password by clicking on the Forgot Password link on the initial sign on screen. While resetting your password, you'll also be asked to enter your Secret Question answers you defined during registration.

It is important that you know your ATM Personal Identification Number because you will use it while defining your User Name and Password.

What happens if I have forgotten my user name, password and the answers to my security questions?
You will need to enter you CitiCard/Credit Card number, Account Number, and Personal Identification Number to generate a new username and password, as well as the answers of the secret questions.

I tried to sign on using my user name and password then received a message saying "invalid card number or ATM pin" - why?
You will receive this message under the following circumstances:
Your CitiCard / Credit Card has expired. You should already have received a new card. If not, please contact CitiPhone Cairo: 796 4646 Alex: 484 2484.
You reported your CitiCard / Credit Card as lost or stolen. If you have not done so, please contact CitiPhone Cairo: 796 4646 Alex: 484 2484 to request for a new card.

2. FAQ for Virtual Keyboard

What is a virtual keyboard?

One of the most common security threats is from malicious software that records your keystrokes and sends them to fraudster. This malicious software is called a "keyboard logger". By having a /virtual keyboard where you enter your password with your mouse instead of typing it in the likelihood that your details can be obtained this way is greatly eliminated. We also recommend that you should have up-to-date anti-virus and firewall software at the same time. A firewall will alert you if there is an attempt to write malicious software to your Personal Computer.


What are the advantages of using a virtual keyboard?
Keyboard will be an additional tool to increase the security of your logon credentials and will protect Internet banking users from the risk of key loggers and screen capturing virus that might have been installed onto your personal computers intentially or unintentially.


When does the virtual keyboard appear?
It only appears when you enter your details into the password field or answers to the security questions. It does not appear as you enter your User Name.


Why is virtual keyboard being displayed on different coordinates of the screen at every logon?
Virtual keyboard is displayed at different coordinates of the screen every time you logon. This is a precaution to prevent the fraudulent attempts of the "keyboard logger" programs that are used to obtain logon details through static coordinates. The Virtual keyboard can also be dragged to a required location on the logon page using the bar on top.


The keys on the virtual keyboard are too small. Can I make them larger?
Yes. You will find the "Enlarge" icon near the top right hand corner of the Virtual keyboard. Click the icon and a different version of the keyboard with bigger buttons will appear. If you need even further magnification then use the Windows Accessibility magnifier to enlarge the keyboard even further.

I can't see some items on the page because they are hidden behind the Virtual keyboard.
You will notice an icon at the top of the Virtual keyboard an icon: "Drag the bar to move the keyboard". If you click down and hold then drag your mouse around the page, the Virtual keyboard will follow your mouse movements. Move the keyboard into a position that suits you.

How do I make the /virtual keyboard disappear once I have entered my details?
You can either simply click elsewhere on the page or click the Enter key on the right hand side of the keyboard and the keyboard will disappear.
The /virtual keyboard does not appear when I try to enter my password.
In this case, click the "Cancel" link on the Sign On page to close this window. Then click the Sign On button to open the Citibank Online window and try again.
